Attachment Informed Practice – How to nurture and support secure attachments
We use the template of our first relationships as an indicator of how to connect with other people in
our lives. Attachment theory helps us understand how experiences shape our brain and the way we
see the world and ourselves in it. For some the first relationship does not meet all basic needs and it
is in these circumstances that other safe adults must support the secure base for a child to thrive.
This course outlines how professionals can provide an experience of nurture where children receive
a reflective response from the adults around them rather than a reactive one.
This course will enable you to:
Identify attachment styles.
Understand how attachment behaviour is a survival response.
Understand how attachment styles are linked to our world view of the world and ourselves
within it.
Explore strategies that promote secure attachments with safe adults.
