Rod Lyall, Founder of The Bungalow Partnership
How The Bungalow Partnership Began
The Bungalow Partnership was established in September 2012 by the late Rod Lyall following a pilot project funded by the Local Authority and two GP Practices in West Middlesbrough. The project involved providing support and advice to children who were experiencing a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties which were having a detrimental effect on their progress in school, but did not satisfy the criteria for a referral into Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), their families and schools.
Over a period of eighteen months the benefits of The Bungalow Partnership model became apparent and attracted interest resulting in the Middlesbrough Achievement Partnership providing a grant to assist in the Partnership’s expansion throughout the town.
In February 2015 The Bungalow Partnership obtained Registered Charity status. We now provide therapeutic support for children, their families and schools across Middlesbrough, Stockton, Redcar and North Yorkshire.
We are now a self-sustaining organisation which actively engages with Local Councils, Children’s Services, Social Services, Adoption Agencie, Public Health and the Voluntary Sector to broaden the multidisciplinary support we are able to offer. The service has developed to include Specialist Family Therapies and Assessments, Staff Wellbeing Packages and a wide range of Training Events.
