What We Do

Our team of highly qualified and experienced Play Therapists, Psychotherapists, Counsellors and Family Mentors provides a wide range of therapeutic support for those experiencing periods of uncertainty, distress and anxiety. We can support children from 3 years to 18 years within the Tees Valley area.  Children and young people often face many challenges which can leave them feeling frightened, confused, angry, aggressive and unable to cope. Referrals can be made privately (self-funded), through Partnership Schools or by Local Authority referral.

We provide confidential therapeutic sessions in safe and private environments such as schools and our own playroom and therapy room here at The Bungalow Partnership. We also provide support to parents at a range of venues, which can include the family home. In addition to our Therapeutic offer we also provide training, supervision and targeted group work for Schools, Local Authorities and Children’s Services

Improving Emotional Wellbeing

We support the emotional wellbeing of children, young people and families by providing a range of support aimed at improving mental health, emotional regulation and resilience. The Children’s Society (2008) reported that 10% of children and young people (aged 5-16yrs) have a clinically diagnosable mental health problem, yet 70% of children and adolescents who experience mental health problems have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age. Here at The Bungalow Partnership we hope to reach children at an early age and provide interventions that can be both preventative and healing in nature.

Our Specialism in Child Centred Therapies

Our therapeutic work with children takes into account their individual and dynamic needs and interests. We use creative ways to engage with young people, allowing them to express themselves non-verbally and in a range of ways that meet their developmental needs.

Using play materials we provide children and young people with the opportunity to develop their resilience and confidence and to master their worries and confusions.

We also provide teens with the opportunity to express themselves through solution focused approaches and talking therapies. We do however believe that there is no age limit on addressing emotional needs in creative ways, ensuring all our young people also experience the permission to be playful in exploring difficult emotions and life experiences.

Our creative Adult Therapies

Our Therapeutic work with adults again is tailored to the unique needs, interests and preferred communication style of the individual. In addition to talking therapies we also provide specialist therapeutic support including Art, Drama and Sand therapies, EMDR and Family therapies based on the models of CPRT, Filial approaches and DDP.

Care to Share

For Pastoral Staff, SENCOs, Safeguarding/Child Protection officers / Family Liaison and Pupil Welfare Staff.

All therapists know the importance and value of their regular supervision time.  A space where they can share how they feel, how their clients feel and gain support in exploring ways forward for their clients.  At The Bungalow Partnership we know just how much Pastoral Staff, SENCOs and those with LAC responsibilities take on, each and every day.  The impact of this can be emotionally draining for the staff involved and can even impact staff sickness levels.  We are therefore developing our Care to Share service, where schools can commission emotional wellbeing supervision support for their staff.  This can be in the form of a weekly/fortnightly drop-in session or alternatively individual support for targeted members of staff.  If you are interested please contact The Bungalow Partnership.  Our Care to Share leaflet is available to download below.
